Re-Designing the Angle Grinder

The Overall Project: This was a group project that lasted 13 weeks where our group was given the opportunity to work with a real-world client, to re-design the angle grinder for future technology.
The Problem: To incorporate future technology into handheld power tools, a re-design is needed for the new standards to be incorporated.

The Development: The form of the product can be changed as many parts arent needed with the inclusion of inductive charging instead of normal battery charging. The design needs to allow for the induction charging coils to be placed on the grinder and be able to find ways of saving money in plastic usage.

The Final Design:  There are many points in the product where the form or shape can be improved on for better ergonomics and being able to reduce the amount of material used and production time. This was to make the overall product cheaper, in order to introduce induction charging into the product.

How the induction charging system could be incorporated into the design

What I Learnt: This was the first project where I was introduced to Solidworks CAD programming, where I learnt on the go how to CAD model of photos of the angle grinder. I also learnt the knowledge and standards of machining, materials, and induction charging technology through this project. Where this information can become quite relevant in future projects.
